Lyrics
Sitting in a lawn chair next to a camper
Next to my friend beside the water
Swamp was steaming, Gators waiting
We sparked up a joint and wrote this here song
I really wanted to go fishing
But we only had one pole
We had a nice inflatable canoe
That already had a hole
So with a single hook and not much line
I got my waders on just fine
Walked into the swamp just in time
To cast my reel and catch a vine
Seeing as it's the only hook that I had
That now was stuck on a lily pad
I pondered how to get it back
When a spring peeper peeped behind my back
Toe deep! Toe deep! Don't get too deep
But this warning I did not heed
I took a step so gingerly
With unknown danger in front of me
I sank in the mud and to my disbelief
A wood frog clamored Ankle deep
Not considering my little friend
I set off to get my hook again
Quickly sank into the sand
And a Leopard frog gave me a hand
Knee deep! Knee deep was his demand
With determination in this point in time
I only had to take a step behind but
A Bullfrog jumped on the lily pad
I reached out, took a step and it just laughed
Neck deep! Neck deep! As I plunged down
I made a loud splashing sound
Now noticing Gators all around
And as the jaws firmly clamped down
I wished I had listened to Nature's warning sounds
The Peeper peeped it loud and clear
The Wood frog said it louder
The Leopard tried to warn you still
Bullfrog knew that it was over.
When that little voice within you
Whispers in your sleep
Take heed of your direction
When you hear that little peep
