It is always the same tale

Regret beyond measurement

Lingering far after its time

When the ego gives orders

You are simply doomed to fail

Even if you're careful, it

Simmers down, but bides its time

When the guards that you put up

Fail to protect you from you

How the hell can you be mad

You are the one who lost control

When your brain is filled with stuff

Things you never even knew

All that you can be is sad

You are the one who sought control

That it's just trying to look out for you

But it is just a bad influence

Can you remember when it helped you

I said ego lies, and so do not listen

Ego strikes when you are not looking

And even now is plotting to take you

And if you listen, I can't help you

I know ego can persuade

But it can also be tamed

Regret need not be the end

Calculate a solution

When the ego casts a shade

When your life goes down in flames

Regret is hardly a friend

Simulate absolution

When the answers fail to come

Reflect upon your choices

How the hell could you do this

You are the one who lost control

When the heat has made you numb

And you've allowed raised voices

To invade the realm of bliss

You are the one whose peace you stole
