Grew up on Wildwood Drive

Where shooting and looting happens on every other side

Mother work three jobs to provide for me and my brothers

And the rock of the family my grandfather

Faced abandonment I wasn't strong at heart

Blamed myself for years I swear it tore me apart

Brother in and out of prison wonder when it all would end

Then my nephew was born flipped life around for his kin

Let me backtrack I'm the youngest of three

Seen them struggle and fail hope it never happens to me

Will never forget when my hero was lost in addiction

Locked in a room for days in a haze causing affliction

Then my grandfather passed since then we're never the same

Addiction got even worse having excruciating pain

Decided to write some poetry to vent my frustration

Praying we make it through all these trials and tribulations

Went to NA meetings to show support

But it got worse couldn't tolerate it no more

See her become a zombie & stranger from who she once was

Told her it's that or me I'm just helping cause of my love

Quit cold turkey became herself within months

Thought everything was good then arrived to that day and grew numb

Lived in a nightmare after seeing you unresponsive

Called the medics perform CPR said I know that you got this lord

It was the longest week of my life

How I'm gonna continue going without you by my side

Praying down on my knees that you get to have your redemption

God willing you made it through I'm proud to see your progression

The devil disguises himself as an angel in the flesh

You're stronger than temptation God's handling all the rest

By the grace of God you survived forgave you for every mistake you made

Always here to save you through trials and tribulations

I can't make this shit up

But there comes a time in life

You got to figure all your troubles

Figure out all your traumas

Figure out all your pain

And make a way to strive through that

And thrive through all that pressure

Thrive through all that stress

But you got to find it within you first
