Lyrics
I took the first available flight to Japan
Though in retrospect I wish I'd waited
Everybody stared at me as I walked down the aisle
I took my seat and sank into the checked luggage
Not one suitcase was zipped all the way
So I played dress-up until we landed
Blind men seven feet tall tossed me carelessly on the runway
And orange-clad day soldiers dragged me to the prison
Where the president and her assassin play dominoes
I bought in and finally took a proper seat
Till a bell in someone's head rang
Loud as the oceans beyond the walls
And I went right to sleep
Never been much of a gambling man
But nevertheless I understood the risks
My four track lover came to bail me out
With a functional homemade tape deck and a carton of cigarettes
I took them both and told her she'd come at the wrong time
But I was shocked when she just left
Did I take too little?
Should I have spoken more coldly, more frankly?
Did I think too much of her and not enough of myself?
I asked the county judge and she sent me back home
I landed in Seattle and the same thing happened to me
I'm starting to think
Some people just never learn a lesson
No matter how hard they try
I went back to Japan
