Lyrics
There was no one there he had the place all to himself
It was too much no one told him it would be like this
Talking to the mirror wasn't like he thought
There were things he had to do he couldn't remember what
He was going to move when the coast was clear
He didn't think it'd be that long
There was time enough to do all the things that he wanted to get done
At least that's what he thought till the stranger pulled out a gun
it was just another thing that he was wrong about
There was blood everywhere it didn't leave much doubt
He was in real trouble now
He knew that he'd have to run
People came from all around they wanted to see what the matter was
All they got were souvenirs he didn't really leave all that much
Everything he had done was always by himself
He wasn't the kind who liked it but he didn't have much choice
She wasn't there when he got back
He knew he'd have to find someone else
He'd been lots of places and the memories still haunted him
All in all there wasn't much he could do to change what he had been
And everybody he had known they thought he'd done alright
With all the places that he'd been and all the winning fights
Little did they know an oasis
Was all he wanted that night
Well now he's an old man he doesn't get to do it very much
Everything he wanted is gone or else has given up
And all the people he once knew they too bought the line
Everyone he ever loved they'd given up without a fight
All he could do
Was try to start again that night
There were no trophies left no pictures hanging on the wall
The thunder was pounding and the lightning lit the shadows in the hall
The time was closing in and he didn't have to speak
He closed his eyes softly and walked into the mist
There was nothing more
And he knew that peace comes with this
