Ancient Stars Lyrics

I've lingered on these lines of prose for months

Waiting for the words to seemingly order themselves

Divulging upon my needs and wants

To find out what exactly I'm trying to spell

I've scrapped this so many times I don't even know where to start

I've looked upon the stars, and sailed across the milky way

I've reached beyond myself to find the words within my heart

And in conclusion, I'd like to say

I'm not great at speaking unscripted thoughts

Out into the abyss of reluctant ears

I have to give even my thoughts a second thought

But I know for sure what I really wanted you to hear was

The sound of Ancient Stars and worlds colliding

And the view while watching pillars of creation fall

Feeling life and motion teeming behind your closed eyelids

Juxtaposed to the void of nothing at all

The cool dewy stillness after a storm that split the heavens in two

The grief that fosters compassion and understanding

For the world around, that you thought you knew

Kept moving and growing while you're idle standing

I wanted to hear what my crumbling world breathed out into this universe

What life will be birthed from my supernova

Which stars will form of my stardust first

To incarnate for the next person, over and over

Such death is life, the cyclical nature of our spirits

The meandering of our celestial estuaries go on for light years

Upon miles

But the beauty in truth arises when you no longer fear it

Gazing out into the vastness of space and time

With a smile
