Love is an anxious thing with wings,

Swooping down for frivolous rings

Or shiny words with which to try

And court a faithful lover's eyes

Love leaps and dances, jokes and sings

Flies high, high, over everything,

Then crashes when the winds must change

And quivering cries, afraid of pain

Love molts when feathers new appear

Through grief, through worry, lust, and cheer

And sometimes love may even hide

But do not fear! Soon it will rise

Love isn't sure

Love tries too hard

And wanders far from where it started,

Yet through its changes, love remains

Love never quits;

Love always stays.
