Fresh, but always fleeting

Flesh, but always bleeding

Rest, but never sleeping

Caress me im receding

Poetic landscapes sift clean through clenched hands

I hold on to forever

but can't retain the sands

Winds are pulling grains embedding into my being

All I'm left with is the gratitude and memories fleeting

Dipping toes in the water will never be the same

I try to box up forever and keep it safe in a frame

Bursting out at the seams, all it means is this being

Attaches meaning to things it shouldn't be worshipping

Try to put a label on ephemeral being

While my perceptions are distorted from the life I've been dreaming

Writing through the lens thats been all weathered by time

I try to dig a little deeper to escape the mind

Do I paint a picture of myself with wounds and scars?

Or use a pallet I've been keeping Safe behind these bars?

I've got a mind to rewind time

I cry but know I'm fine

I try but the night sky seems close to the minds eye

Sometimes I can't contest the fact

Embracing all we love afraid we won't get it back

Beat a memory to death until its faded and broken

Then revisit in our dreams to hear the words re spoken

Awake from our sleeping to decipher the meaning

And get disheartened as our consciousness, it keeps intervening

Thoughts are speckles of sand

Funny where some land

I've got a rake to smooth the plane and let my self expand
