Lyrics
I had to send my children to the other side
I had to let them go because I didn't know
If we'd make it out alive
I gave my trust to the man who led to the other side
He looked so honest and he was so kind
They took a train and ship to make it safely across,
To the other side, to the other side
Oh and it started to snow, fluffy mist all around
& the people were crying in the cold winter's tongue
In the refugee camps from Sudetenland
& Nicki had planned to go ski, just him and his friends
But when he picked up the call he flew out just right then
He saw Jews kicked from homes and hiding from devastation
So he pulled in his friends to help
These poor children
They wrote to the capitals, they wrote to France
They wrote to the president of the US
And the only open country was Great Britain
So the families they came, to sign off their kids
One by one put each name in and prayed they'd be picked
And when our daughters' names rang through the phone
We cried but knew it was time to let them go
We had to send them both off on the train, and they made it away
Fifty years later & no one knew what he did
He saved 669 children
He just kept on with his life didn't need any praise
And his modesty carried him on
