Today I picked up my guitar

To strum some chords that I know all too well

And for a brief moment I was riding high

I swear I'd forgotten just who I was

I didn't get involved in nothing too extreme

I just went to work and ate,

Sat in bed, then went to sleep

Thought about my life, amongst some other things

It's funny how a piece of wood and strings can make me feel so complete

And I'd rather not spend my days trippin' over things that make me feel empty

I used to put a lot of stock in a future world that I'll never see

But I realize I feel better when I'm sitting all alone
