Genesis 22 Lyrics

One day God tested Abraham and said

Take your only son and give him back to me burned and bled

Just go three days to the hills you will see the place

Abraham your seed will enrich the entire human race

So Abe took two of his young men and horses but he left 'em on the third day

Isaac and I will go yonder to worship and then both return here you stay

Father Isaac said we don't have all we need

Wood and fire we have

But where is the innocent lamb to bleed

Isaac my son Abe said

God will provide the sacrifice

Isaac please don't talk let's enjoy the ride

So Abe went up with his son to the mountain

And he built the altar then to pray

Isaac was bound and laid on the altar

Abraham raised the knife to slay

Just then the Angel of The Lord appeared above them

God said Stop don't hurt him Abe

You didn't refuse your only son to me

One day I'll send an innocent babe to die
