West-London born rapper Jordy Mankoto is a well known specialist of the musical fusion of authentic street rap with Afrobeats, Dancehall and R&B. Born to a Congolese family, he had a love for music from as early as the age of 2. Jordy first appeared to the music scene as his previous artist name, Jaydén Debonair where he released music directly from his bedroom studio to his soundcloud page; this gave him the platform that he needed, reaching over 4,000 streams in a month for his song about his encounter with a Congolese and Angolan female. That song "Tao Bonito" which has since surpassed 10,000 streams.
After releasing music solely on digital platforms, Jordy went through some losses in his life and decided to seek God for a better pathway in life. He never had released any music videos apart from some freestyles over local YouTube platforms. He decided to restart again, this time taking on his actual name after seeing this with the likes of Will Smith and Kendrick Lamar. Now as Jordy Mankoto, he began with a poem based upon his life at that time.
“I decided to first do poetry which turned out well and I then released my first song in September titled, ‘Let It Shine’. After two more releases, people started to love my music, so I knew I had to get everything out of my system which then led to me recording my debut project, the mixtape “TRANSITION” in the space of 9 days.” His debut project alone has gathered over 400,000 streams on soundcloud....more
