Jay Valera is a self-taught musician and Singer/Songwriter originally from the Bronx, New York but lived most of his academical years in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. At a very young age, he showed interest towards music. In his teenage years, he played in church and was part of a local alternative rock band known in Santo Domingo as “Leaving Town” where he played the drums and was actively involved in the songwriting process.
Having gained experience on live performances, he decided it was time to move somewhere he could showcase his talent to a more diverse audience.
At the age of 18, he moved back to New York to begin his Singer/Songwriter career. In early 2017, at the age of 25, after working in numerous jobs, is when he made the ultimate decision of becoming a full-time singer and started performing in bars and restaurants all around the East Coast making this his main source of income.
