Mansa Kamau is a songwriter born in Kenya and raised in the UK. The name Mansa Kamau stems from (Mansa meaning King and Kamau meaning Warrior in Kikuyu). In his own words "I wanted a name I felt best described the characteristics I have/aspire to derived from my sense of self as a leader of my own destiny and my passion for social justice causes. If I were to best describe my music I’d say it’s a genre-fluid expression of soul. I don’t prefer any one genre to the other, I hear an instrumental I like and express the thoughts and emotions it makes me feel. My journey in the music industry began in Luton,UK originally producing radio shows, to co-hosting, artist management and then songwriting, but my professional background is rooted in community outreach, working with troubled youths and people who suffer from mental health issues. Through my music I’d love to tour Africa and be a part of building a continental scene that we as Africans will dictate and have ownership over."...more
