SJ the Artisan

Jamal Abdul Fareed, known professionally as SJ the Artisan, is an American rapper, record producer, DJ, songwriter and instrumentalist from Youngstown, Ohio. Known for his passion and drive, SJ the Artisan has worked with artists, producers, and instrumentalists from all over the world, gaining him a worldwide audience.

The release of SJ’s Straight From Da Yo mixtape series and The Harbinger Mixtape gained him some attention around northeast Ohio, with performances at Cleveland’s legendary Phantasy Nightclub, as well as The Outpost in Kent, and at Youngstown State University.
After the release of The Harbinger Mixtape (2012), SJ the Artisan partnered up with his brother, DJ Keyz, to form 1093 Entertainment, LLC, with SJ being the label’s flagship artist.

SJ has released several projects under 1093 Entertainment, including The Revolution (2005), Age of Phenom (2017), No Limits EP (2017), and Legend of The Rona (2020). SJ has also released garnered attention from his single releases, some of which include Summer Nights (2017), 1000 Miles n’ Runnin’ (2019), Trophies (2019), Colors (2020), Nothin’ Like You (2020), Renaissance Man (2021), and Back 2 Business: Reloaded (2022).

SJ has perform at major events around Ohio and western Pennsylvania such as the YSU Festival of The Arts, Youngstown Beer Festival, Federal Frenzy, Thiel College, Ohio State University, and Diesel Club Lounge (Pittsburgh). Furthermore, SJ has also performed in major venues around Southeast Asia including Solo Club & Hard Rock Hotel (Shenzhen), Social10 (Hangzhou), Party Pier (Guangzhou), The Wanch (Hong Kong), Araneta City (Quezon City), and Foot Rock & Beers (Osaka).

Currently, SJ Is playing a major role in the growth and development of Shenzhen's hip hop music scene and brings his work ethic, passion, and character to a city that's recently developing its own. He is also involved in other ventures, including No Disintegrations, a Shenzhen based super band, and Myriad Misadventures with Seth
