Azaya

Mamady Kamissoko who is popularly known as Azaya is a songwriter, arranger and singer. He was born on October 10, 1989 in Kankan, in the Guinean savannah.

He is the son of Mamadi and Ate Kourouma, he was raised by his late grandparents Balakala and late Makoura. The Sharks of Balakala a music group of his great-uncle Balakala in Kankan, Azaya learned his first musical notes from 2000 to 2005 when he accompanied the artists

After his primary and secondary studies in Kankan, he obtained his baccalaureate in 2006 and turned to private law at the General Lansana Conté University in Sonfonia, where he graduated in 2010.

After his success with the group Les requins de Balakala, he moved to Conakry for his university studies in 2006. In 2009, Azaya was both bassist in the group of Yahoumba Sékou, Saydou Sow and Sékouba Kandia Kouyaté.

Career
In 2008, Azaya made a first American tour to accompany Sékouba Kandia Kouyaté. During this tour Azaya took the opportunity to record in Philadelphia her very first single entitled Pardonnes-moi, the success of which encouraged him to take an even greater interest in singing.

Between 2009 and 2010 Azaya joined the guitarist, singer and arranger Manfila Kanté, with the aim of improving his musical knowledge.

In 2010 after his studies, he immediately joined urban music with the Seyland Koutchy group, which allowed him to play behind all the big stars of urban music in Guinea.

In 2011 through Sékouba Kandia, Azaya was selected among many others to accompany Sékouba Kandia Kouyaté, Aicha Koné and Takana Zion to Brazil for the International Festival of Negro Consciousness. The same year he joined the group of the artist with the magic foot Abraham sesty Koundouwaka as being both bassist, chorister and conductor of the group.

On December 1, 2012 Azaya released a 14-track maxi-single titled My love at the Franco-Guinean Cultural Center to celebrate the International AIDS /STI Day.

Between 2013 and 2014 he decided to go solo, he created his own group for this purpose which he called Musique Sans Frontières of which he was the lead singer and recorded his first album entitled Gnenessouma, which was officially released by the Benedi label. Records in collaboration with the Tiguida Prod label. The success of the album earned him the nickname "The Messi of Guinean music" by his fans.

Achievements
Since 2015 he has won prizes and trophies among which are:
• Best Artist of the Year at the 2018 J Awards.
• Best Artist and Best Hit of the Year at the 5th Guinea Music Awards.
• Best hit of the year on city Fm radio.
• Best Artist of the Year according to the vote of listeners on Evasion Fm radio.

He has also received a lot nominations, some of them are:
RFI Discovery Prize 2018.
Nominated three times Number 1 of the top 10 best Guinean songs by the Guineanews website.
