J.Derobie

Derick Obuobie Jnr known professionally as J.Derobie is a Ghanaian singer and songwrite. Many of J.Derobie Songs became very popular and trendy on social media in line with a great number of streaming and downloads on Boomplay.

He was born on August 27, 1994 in Yendi and raised in Nungua. J.Derobie released his debut single "Poverty" through Mr Eazi's funding and mentorship program emPawa100; the visuals for the song amassed one million views on YouTube within a month of its release.

Career
J.Derobie was born in Yendi, a town in the Northern Region of Ghana. He began to develop interest in dancing and singing at the age of 13. He attended Dagbon Stage Senior High School in Yendi. J.Derobie released his debut single "Poverty" through Mr Eazi's funding and mentorship program emPawa100.

The visuals for the song garnered one million views on YouTube. Jamaican singer Popcaan was featured on the remix of "Poverty". J.Derobie was endorsed by Ghanaian musicians such as Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and Samini.

Achievements
In 2019, J.Derobie managed to became a brand ambassador for BetPawa. A betting site in Ghana. He was nominated for several awards in 2020 like the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards for Best New Artist of the Year, Raggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and Raggae/Dancehall Song of the Year.

He also got another nomination the same year in the 2020 3 Music Awards Ghana for Breakthrough Act of the Year and Raggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and luckily managed to win the Raggae/Dancehall Song of the Year under the same awards.
