Nub came into existence in 1991, when Cotswolds-based brothers Tim (vocals, guitar) and Adam (guitar) Ineson started recording demos with Graham Blackwell (bass) and a drum machine. Graham left the band in 1992 to be replaced by Nat Saunders. They recorded the ‘Hopper EP’ for Planet Records. As the band developed their melodic math-rock sound, they recruited drummer Simon Hartop and released their first EP ‘Blue Climber’ on Jackass Records.
Simon left, and was replaced by New Yorker Jeff Gerhardt on drums, forming the core Nub gang, who went on to record a bunch of songs and play a ton of gigs that were widely praised in the UK music press. Nub released the single ‘Blacktop’ on Flower Shop Recordings, it received great reviews and quickly sold out it’s limited run. This was followed with a single for Rough Trade Records, ‘Fall Guy’, that was heavily rotated on Radio 1 and Single of the Week in pretty much every publication that reviewed it. They recorded a Peel Session in 1996.
Nub disbanded in 1998, but their collected songs and demos were gathered together to form an album in 2007, which received rave reviews...more
