City By the Sea

Every soul sails to and fro in ships on seas of pleasure

The merchandise comes at a price, and time is bound to treasure

I sell my soul and pay the toll to become a god of weather

Yet the sea does not give birth to me, but swallows beyond measure

There is something in the deep that shakes below my feet

That bellows from the darkness and beckons unto me

Leviathan will play, and thrash beneath the waves

Death glories at his stir, as he dances on my grave

I heard tavern tales and singing 'bout treasure Island

Where God is king and I am prince and we are drunk

Yet how much drinking does it take before I am dying?
