Your control has been rent asunder In the rain, in the wind, in the thunder

I've got a hot bit of news, I've got water in my shoes

And I'm far from home

I walked these streets in different times And my feet fell in step and my words in rhyme

Now I'm here again in more ways than one And I wonder aloud at how far I've come

And another day I'd let go and just go under But today feels different, just a little less

Impotent, less pressure, fewer people And like I'm working to a higher principle

Not a higher power, just a better way to be

And I see a glimpse of sun through the clouds And I stand a little prouder

And maybe raise my little voice a little louder
