Heart of Vietnam

We landed in a foreign land, so far from all we knew,

The air was thick with heat and fear, the sky a haunting hue.

The jungle whispered secrets, the rivers ran with doubt,

And every step we took felt like we'd never make it out.

Shadows in the jungle, ghosts of those before,

We fight a war we don't believe, but we don't know what it's for.

Brothers by my side, we carry on this fight,

In the heart of Vietnam, where there's no wrong or right.

Letters from my mother say she prays for me each day,

But prayers can't stop the bullets, or make the pain go away.
