Pagan Grave

A kingdom undivided, a legacy slain The weight of my folly, forever ingrained

In the annals of history, a cautionary tale Of how wisdom faltered and love did fail

Oh Father, your words now echo clear Seek a woman of virtue, hold her ever dear

But I, in my arrogance, chose a different path And now I lie buried in the aftermath

Pagan grave, a king's final rest My heart heavy with guilt, my soul distressed

For the love of many led me astray And Jehovah's light dimmed into grey

They weren't wicked women with hearts full of spite But their gods were foreign, their altars alight

With incense and offerings to idols of stone And I, in my blindness, made their faith my own

Oh Father, your wisdom I cast it aside For the allure of beauty and worldly pride

Now the kingdom crumbles, a nation divides And the God of my fathers, forever I defy
