Deep Winter

Emeralds and rubies sparkle in December light

In a ring of family no one asks their price

But by nature though this means they can be few and far between

One moment full of warmth

The next stunted by a chill

'Cause know one sings about leaving home after the holidays

Going back to starving when you just had your fill

'Cause holiday spirit doesn't roll over to the new year

And longer nights mean the season's getting deeper

These are the hallmarks of deep winter
