Quarrels In The Quarry

We drove out past the county line, where the road runs out of track,

Down to the old rock quarry, where the world don't turn back.

The moon was high, and the wind was still, and tempers started to rise,

She said, "You never listen, and you're always full of lies."

I said, "Now, honey, you've got it wrong, you don't hear a thing I say,"

She shot me that glare that could burn through stone, and I knew I'd gone astray.

We yelled and fussed till our voices cracked, and the echoes came back strong,

And in that dark, we both got lost, and everything went wrong.

Quarrels in the quarry, shadows on the walls,

Two hearts trapped in anger, where nobody hears the call.
