A Happy Song

Well my mother asked me when I'd write a happy song

Here it is, not too long, about the birds singing

Up above all our heads, words, fears and silly doubts

They take these thoughts to a far off field in a far off world spreading

Seeds among the ashen waste and fake plastic trees

Sprouting there species unknown colors unimaginable

Cover ground reach for the light breathe life into water

Multiply find solid land look to the stars shining

The first eyes to form and love a fuchsia sunset

The first feet to leave a print in the whitest snow falling

Step out into the storm howling
