Going For A Song

I'm going for a song so I hope that you can hear me

I only wrote it yesterday to try and get you near me

There's not much point in singing it if I'm up here

And you ain't over there

You know I spent time writing lines for you

It doesn't sound as good as you look that's true

But at least they rhyme that's quite hard to do

If you want a story that's tough on you

Did I write a love song that's new

If that's a waste of time perhaps you'd prefer

A science-fiction yarn on the commercial side

I know you're fond of stars shining bright and white like daisies
