I see you on the front porch as I drive off one last time

Does he fill my spot in bed, the years we carved into mine

Our life is in the front yard next to the broken screen door

And I'm worn out before noon, another night on the floor

I follow the phone line up to the top of this old house

I'd make this trip in my sleep but these days the locks are changed

The cuts on my ring finger scab over but they won't heal

Years bruising down on my skin, discolor and start to peel
