Manufacturing "Guilt" behind the temple

Led to my arrest and subsequent acquittal

Seems simple, but it's a riddle

And the answer is a puzzle with the barrel of a muzzle

Carried carefully to sterilize friends in peril

Get curb-stomped, wool socks and Merrells

Then back to the apartment where the carpet's tattered

Window shattered, wall spattered with chunks of discarded grey matter

Yellow tape around the perimeter when I arrived

Told 'em it was our spot and I needed to get inside

Then it hit me, trembling, I asked if you're alive
