Night Beach

On an old summer night, at the edge of meaning

In the dark flashed a light, and the spark lit, gleaming

On the beach near the woods, under the glow of stars

Was it a night of "coulds," or just a night of ours

I was just a kid, I don't know what I did

I just know how I felt, the first notch on a belt

Yeah, life was a classroom, back before all the gloom

How could I know back then, all that would soon happen, yeah

If you could, would you go back to those younger days
