My dad grew up in this small town, but I couldn't wait to go

A restless ramblin' S O B, who's gone before you know

I swore I'd never settle down, but since I'm back in town

That little girl who lived next door, turned my world upside down

In school was my kid sister's friend, at least three grades behind

A freckled face with red pig tails, she never crossed my mind

She's our town pageant's beauty queen, but me who won first prize

She had a teenage crush on me, that's never gone away

And now that I moved back to town, I'm in her arms to stay
