The Flame

There was a time I doubted myself in my mind

And hid the flame that was burning deep inside

Just an average kid, average at sports, and average grades

Destined to be good at most but never great

Was never quite the norm but tried to keep my collar starched

Just what you did when you had nothing better off

But that flame cut deep and it burned me to my core

First time I touched these strings and walked out on that floor

This new road that I've been traveling on

Is taking me to higher places than I've ever gone
