Now let me take you on the trip

Way back to my beginnings

Before I had this ill rhyme style that I'm kicking

Living off the edge so I wasn't doing swell

Never figured I'd be homeless only by the age of twelve

Too young to understand or try to cope with the pain

I questioned why it happened was it karma was it fate

With so much stress to take I was nearly bout to break

But what had kept me sane was this black cassette tape

Now to you it might seem useless

But it was filled with music

Unc handed me a shoebox recorder so I could use it
