Cardboard Winter

Sun bleeds out by three, shadows stretch and steal the heat, cardboard castle, flimsy walls, can't keep out the winter's claws.

Short days, cold nights, not good news living outside, but the city's my symphony, under the neon's flickering light, we dance in the city's bite.

Whispers in the alleyways, echoes of forgotten names, cardboard box, my sleeping tomb, haunted by yesterday's gloom.

But in the hush before the dawn, a robin's song, a fragile thread, a promise whispered on the breeze, that even shadows hold the seeds.

We'll dance in the city's bite, until the morning light.
