No Different Than Me

When I was a child my mother said boy if you say another word

Your gonna be lucky to get dinner you can forget about desert

That was around the same time I begin to lose sight of my self worth

And see how all the closest people in my life would cause me to hurt

I felt abandoned by my mother So I spent my childhood pissed off and angry

And now I'm grown with children of my own and find that my demeanors not changing

Even though I'm older on the surface I seem to be growin colder

I'm a mess and I need someone I can trust just to cry on their shoulder

There is who we are and then there's who we allow the world to see

There is the person that we have become

And the person that we can still be
