Elephant Tree

I wanna drive down and see

If the elephant tree is still standing where it used to be

I'll sit on a bench right at it's foot

And feel the sunlight as it pours through the leaves

The scent of mouldy wood, the sounds from the railway nearby

I sense them to this very day if I just close my eyes

Up the path to the top of the hill

To the grotto for the Virgin Mother Mary

That's where we used to go, my Marie and me
