Struggles

I feel their eyes bore holes behind my back

My soles barely touching the ground as I walk by with the gait of model

Back straight, head tall, backpack strapped across my shoulders

I watch them serendipitously waiting for the prefect moment

To steal glances precipitously at my thighs in hopes

Of getting a glimpse of my Jerusalem

I hear their shallow brains in the shadows 'she is too hard

Soft enough to be ogled, desirable to satisfy their lust yet

Distrust in my ability to lead just because I am single and female

A warped angle that strangles

I try to hide my face when I sight her from a distance
