In The Backseat

I remember those days, when I was just a little boy

Nothing on my mind, just doing what I enjoyed

My father had a good job, he was hardly at home

I had to find a way to spend most of my time on my own

Every summer vacation, we had to travel real far

Driving all night, in the backseat of my daddy's car

My hand on his shoulder, his hand right there on mine

Mile after mile, getting lost in that moment in time

Speeding down the highway, further and further away

Way up in the mountains, to a river where we used to play

And I laid down my head in the light of some far away star
