I Got You A Gift

It's the night before Christmas so I got you a gift

I thought if I didn't you'd wonder where it is

Just a little something the overnight guy at the drugstore picked

But I bought it and brought it so you might as well open it

It doesn't measure up to what I gave you when we met

When I wrapped it and signed it to make sure you knew what I meant

Every day after that I told I'd give you everything I had to give

And I guess in a way tonight I still did

Christmas Eve, we lit candles as we listened to the choir

But they all burned down and we found we had run out of fire
