But our opening scene is a green utility Land Rover snaking its way on a narrow country lane somewhere in Lancashire, England. Windows rolled down. The summer heat already being hunted by the cold breeze of autumn.

These were the last days. No amount of fighting or running could ever change that. Through a tunnel I shut my eyes. And follow the map i visualise inside my minds eye . I dream for a short while then gradually let my consciousness align itself once again .

Back in the physical world, We stutter to the wake of a mud path leading to the lakeside. Abandoning our vehicle in the wild nettles we both climb out the drivers door. Without the headlights we are in almost complete darkness as our eyes adjust to the new reality.

Our city cloths stand out against the dark cloak of night. Figures in grainy silent film, emerging at their destination.

Then we swam til we were in the moon

The shore so far behind us

Our cloths in the sand

Shoes full of worldly possessions

House keys, a debit card and a Casio watch

A switch blade in my Jean pockets

The hemoglobin in my blood rushing through my ears

Sounding Like a ceiling fan on a hot night

With the medicine by the bed

You told me once how you dream about the bridges you are yet to see. I think about this to back drop of the faint noise of cargo trucks far away across the flat water. Once you hear it, it is everywhere. There is no real escape, but in the moment, finally we are no one.
