Lyrics
This goes out to a little town in Southeast LA that made it
Nothing short of famous...
Norwalk 562, city on the move
Do what it do like the hustle bus coming' through
Home of the Glock Pop, Cerritos College, and Kaos
You can find me on Alondra and Elmcroft
Norwalk 562, city on the move
Do what it do like the hustle bus coming' through
Home of the Glock Pop, Cerritos College, and Kaos
You can find me on Alondra and Elmcroft
In the 50's, Pops Herrera moved out of East Los
Back then it was country, a dream for Abuelo
Had three children, all raised in the Southeast
All went to Excelsior, right next to the mean streets
Their only daughter, who was my mom
Couldn't have kids, so she adopted one
Then came me, this ghostly huero
Three pounds, three months early, sick little pero
Grew big and strong, just like an ox
Grandma used to joke how they found me in a shoebox
Pops skirted out by the time I was cuatro
Moms did her best, but damn, we ain't got dough
So I'm the white sheep in this brown family
Got a lot of love, permanently wear it on my sleeve
Good memories when I exit Alondra
562, thought you knew was the mantra
Norwalk 562, city on the move
Do what it do like the hustle bus coming' through
Home of the Glock Pop, Cerritos College, and Kaos
You can find me on Alondra and Elmcroft
Norwalk 562, city on the move
Do what it do like the hustle bus coming' through
Home of the Glock Pop, Cerritos College, and Kaos
You can find me on Alondra and Elmcroft
Older, maybe wiser, now that it's too late
Gotta stop and smell the roses, take time to appreciate
Norwalk's a lot colder now that Pops is gone
Went a year after Abuelita, it didn't take long
I moved from Norwalk to LAX like the 105
I was a menace, kicked it in Venice just to stay alive
From my mouth to God's ears them years was tough man
Kept my head in the clouds and my feet in the sand
Streets almost ate me, swallowed me whole
Took me for everything, left me out in the cold
Always knew it was laugh now, and cry later
But I was clapping at my enemies like Hi, haters
But you know Evil, what goes around man, karma's a bitch
Your homie ain't your homie if your homie's a snitch
All we ever wanted to be was cool rich
Now we just OG's talking our bullshit about how
Back in the days, things were much better
We didn't need the internet, played out in the weather
But honestly, it was gunplay by the one-ways
I'd be a dummy if I raised my son around that way
Truth be told, Norwalk gave me flavor
It was my worst enemy, sometimes my only savior
It's like a devil, and an angel sitting on my shoulder
I appreciate you, now that I'm a little older
So this is just a tribute, the streets can take away
Or you can take away what the streets gave you
Norwalk you raised me, made me shady
Brought me up in the streets, since I was a baby
Many times late at night, thought you'd erase me
Between the gangs and the cops trying to chase me
Then you damn near slayed me at the age of 18
Bullets flying heavily they just did graze me
This about the time I linked up with KP
We used to do a radio show at KCEB
Did our little rap thing, built up a following
Beat pimps with the shit, but the streets they were hollering
Had a little falling, now you know how the story goes
Heads getting inflated when it comes to them silly hoes
I think back on it now, I ain't mad
Those were the best times that we ever had in
Norwalk 562, city on the move
Do what it do like the hustle bus coming' through
Home of the Glock Pop, Cerritos College, and Kaos
You can find me on Alondra and Elmcroft
Norwalk 562, city on the move
