Lyrics

Since we're here together right now

I might as well tell you the truth

I'm just here to let you know about the man behind the mystery

Open up my door and let you step inside my history

Open up my closet, let you dance with all my skeletons

I already been and I ain't going back to hell again

Suicide attempts at age eleven and psychiatric facilities

Pharmaceutical remedies for my iniquities

On pills and cages, locked up like a rat

Punk rock, skateboard, patches on my backpack

Black nail polish and an attitude to match that

Couldn't tell me shit without catching a better comeback

Too smart for my age, at least in terms of intellect

A brilliant mind at war with emotions that ain't developed yet

Now, let me take you back further, serve you some context

No simple story, my subplots is complex

A tale of two mothers, but one is my father

To be transparent, I got a trans-parent that I called Pappa

Or Poppi, that was her nickname

I used to try to hide it in a way, I was ashamed

I didn't want to sexplain to all the other kids at school

I already got teased enough, you know kids can be fucking cruel

And it was bad enough we was broke

Bad enough, I was fat

Bad enough I was trying to act like I was intact

When I was falling apart, bearing the burden

Of trying to become a man while my dad became a woman.

Real talk

This is back in the late 80s early 90s

Know what I'm saying

Before there was a Caitlyn Jenner on the radar

This shit wasn't even a conversation

I'm just here to let you know bbout how I finally got my mind straight

Traded in the Prozac for a dime bag, and a mixtape

By the end of 10th grade, Poppi had finally up and left

I stepped out of her shadow and started to find myself

Had my first real girlfriend then

Her name was Rachel

Yeah, I admit it, I tend to date inter-Rachel

But if your dad was the closest black woman to you

You'd probably have an issue dating Sistas too

Caught in a Freudian loop

My real mother was white

Plus there were times where she the only stable thing in my life

When I was trying to fight everybody who came around

My mama, the only person on earth who could calm me down

Now, let's get back to Rachel

The timing couldn't have been better, yo she was like an angel

She never judged me, just hugged me and loved me

Made me feel special and safe

Then my whole world changed

Hanging out at her parents place in Laurel Canyon

That's where my mind started expanding

Taking mushrooms and LSD

I saw beyond the box society had put on me

I hopped up out that bitch and let my consciousness fly free

And suddenly, I could see the way the system was molding all of us children

To begin gears to move the money machine

School was a tool for normalization

What we call education was really indoctrination

Oh, by the way, I had straight A's then

I started ditching and getting into more trouble and

I started dealing and stealing, I wasn't subtle and

Suddenly, my fits was fresh, my kicks was new

And nobody could tell me what to do

Fuck you!

Caught slipping, I got kicked out of school

Did my time then they let me back in

Senior year came, got caught slipping again

But I still graduated next to all of my friends

Can't nothing stop my win

Yeah… This is me

I'm just here to let you know bout how the artist was born

My creativity the way I made it out of the storm

To both my parents credit,

They always told me I could be or do anything

Got my first guitar at seven years old, started to play and sing

Same year, I started acting

A couple years later

I caught a love affair with rapping

No matter what happened I always knew what I was destined to do

Six words: To my own self be true

So after high school, I took a little time out for me

Eventually, I did go and get a college degree

First black man in my family tree able to say that

I shattered the pattern, gave my ancestors they payback

Don't need a Maybach to show I made it

Put the puzzle pieces together, I paper mache'd it

Through sheer will and skill, cultivated the man that I am

Now I'm Unfuckwitable, like God had planned

And I'm standing as living proof

That by standing firm in your truth

It don't matter what happened to you

Ain't nothing that you can't do

When you learn to transmute your traumas into the fuel for your dreams

And wear them stripes with honor and self-esteem

I'm just here to let you know that you're beautiful

And you've got the power inside to shape your reality

Impossible's a fallacy

So speak what you seek, until you see what you said

And manifest all the dreams in your head

Go and get it

You see the truth is

No matter, how poor

Or how privileged

Every person has experienced pain

No one gets through life without scars

But that's just a part

Of what makes us who we are

Everybody's got a story

And as we strength and vulnerability

And share our journeys

And what makes us unique

We allow others to see themselves in us

And hopefully, find the courage to speak

And share their stories

Share your story.
