Lyrics
It's a two-mile amble 'long the Derwent shore
Then up through great wood. Who could want more
The next bit's a very, very, very steep hill
The scramble up the thing they call Cat Gill
Atop of the gill you'll find peace and still
It's a quiet route, 'cos the climb's a kill
Now up to the wall of crags it sell
With the view down Borrowdale i know so well
Look North Bass and Skiddaw at their best
Then Coledale and Newlands lie directly west
Once sated with the view and your food and drink
It's off you go to complete the link
Just walking the fells
North, South, East or West
Sun or rain or hail or snow
All senses put to test
Then clamber your way through shrubs and bracken
To complete your round it's gotta happen
Just watch your step across stream and rock
Until at Ashness bridge you'll eventually dock
And as it's the lakes most famous view
You'll be one of the many but not the few
From what was once a pack horse bridge
You'll see the mighty Skiddaw's weather worn ridge
It's such a beautiful sight to behold
As that view is pure Lakeland gold
Now it's back to Keswick on this fine day
It's down the bank, but a secret way
Just walking the fells
North, South, East or West
Sun or rain or hail or snow
All senses put to test
To view the sight that rarely calls
Behold! The mighty Barrow Falls
Then along the Derwent shore we go
On this great walk you've had the full show
Of lakes and fells right at your door
I ask my friend who could want more
Now the moral of this tale is go seek and see
The wonders of Lakeland for you and me
