Lyrics
I remember the first time I saw that old mill
In awe of it then, in awe of it still
As I rounded the bend, the building stood tall
Then a great paddle wheel appeared past one wall
On the bank of the creek was perched the great mill
On the bank of the creek it perches there still
I rode on a horse, sack of corn on its back
I left with cornmeal which filled that same sack
Turning the wheel was the task of Clear Creek
I can still see it turn, I can still hear it squeak
In my mind it was a marvelous machine
I never grew tired of watching that scene
I would stand there in wonder as the mighty stones ground
Or watch as the paddle wheel slowly turned round
My horse carried me many times to that place
In my heart that old mill still has its own space
We made many trips but it wasn't a chore
I loved it back then, I love it now more
For years the mill served all the farmers around
With tons and tons of materials ground
Progress and electricity left it behind
Sometimes man's progress can be quite unkind
Though made obsolete by modern day ways
It stands as a tribute to much simpler days
Much simpler days
Much simpler days
Much simpler days
Much simpler days
It still sits there proudly as the creek rushes past
A symbol that back then, they built things to last
I pay it a visit at least once a year
I still get choked up, and perhaps shed a tear
Though made obsolete by modern day ways
It stands as a tribute to much simpler days
There may many things happen that I say never will
But I'll never forget the Fall River Mill
Much simpler days
Much simpler days
Much simpler days
Much simpler days
