AWEN was founded in 2017 by Rafał Wierzbicki (acoustic guitar) and John Ruger (drums, vocals), with the idea of merging classic 70's progressive rock with elements of celtic folk music. The band was soon joined by bass player Johny Virginia, and July Linden who initially was supposed to be flutist only, but soon became group's permanent singer.
The quartet struggled to find right lead guitarist, so decided to make their debut album a pure folk record, the sessions however were unsuccessfull and the idea was scraped. After playing with numerous guitarists the lineup was completed by Albert Void. Their debut album "Grà" was released in 2023 and the band had played their first gig on april the first 2024....more
