Punjab singer and lyricist Sidhu Moose Wala earned widespread exposure in 2017 thanks to the success of "So High," a gangsta rap collaboration with Canadian producer Byg Byrd.
Hailing from the city of Moosa in Mansa, Punjab, Wala began writing lyrics while studying for an electrical engineering degree in India. He moved to Canada in 2016 and released his debut single, "G Wagon," in 2017. His breakthrough came later that year when he worked with producer Byg Byrd on the collaborative single "So High," which capitalized on the rising South Asian gangsta rap movement. It was Wala's first release for the Humble Music label and earned him a Best Lyricist Award at the Brit Asia Music Awards.
