AKA me is the moniker of Stephanie D’Arcy, an avant-garde singer-songwriter and producer from Los Angeles. Influenced by artists like St. Vincent and Little Dragon, AKA me’s musical style blends vibrant, lo-fi production with dark, yet energetic vocals. The 22 year-old artist graduated from CalArts where she studied music, while specializing in guitar performance and experimental songwriting. After releasing an album with her rock project, Laugh Queens, she started writing music with digital instruments and eclectic production. In order to create a new dimension for her musicality, Stephanie chose the name AKA me based off of her original and current Instagram handle (stephanie_aka_me). Since then, she has released three singles as well as a music video that captures the feeling, vision and aesthetic of AKA me....more
