Coke Bumaye was raised on the south side of Jackson, Mississippi. His father, a neighborhood DJ, would use the daily ride to school to put Coke (born Corey Stokes) and his brothers onto different types of music. "I remember my dad would DJ house parties and take like 7 crates of records and he wasn't even getting paid. It was all about the music for him." Remembering those rides to school with his father and his passion for crate digging is what drives Coke Bumaye's commitment to create, in his own words "illustrious" and "high-level music" across the board. Understanding that good music isn't limited to one genre is what gives Bumaye the confidence to take on any style of production from trap to backpack.
