2019 marked the first year of ‘Zachary Leo’, a bold blend of Funk, Rock, and Soul from Melbourne based artist Zachary Leo Gulavin. Written and mostly recorded from his home in the South East, his songs speak of heartbreak, self-destruction, and love, of all kinds, taking musical inspiration from the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jamiroquai and the early works of Maroon 5. During 2019 he had the opportunity to grace the stage with some amazing Australian Acts in Pacific Avenue, Port Royal and Thirsty Merc while his first two singles saw him the reach Top 5 on the Triple J Unearthed Charts with his debut single ‘Lay You Down’ coming in at No. 1.
His latest work ‘Not That Easy’ is a Hendrix like euphoria glazed in heartache but from the perspective of the heartbreaker. His usual combination of Wah Guitar, punching bass and soulful organs brings this one to life with its heartfelt lyrics gluing it all together.
