Priscilla Zawedde popularly known by her stage name Azawi was born in Kampala in 1996 to the late Walusimbi Samuel and Nakamatte Mary. She is a Ugandan artist, songwriter, and dancer.
Many of Azawi’s Songs became very popular and trendy on social media in line with a great number of streaming and downloads on Boomplay.
Career
According to her, her journey in school was full of scholarships due to her talent and her academic performance. Her career began in 2005 as a dancer in a group called Kika dance troupe. As a group, they performed on many stages. Four years later, she joined another dance group (Crane Performers) while still in school.
She began writing songs at a young age. Azawi’s songwriting skills got her a meeting with Eddy Kenzo who eventually connected her to other artists. Through Eddy, she has written for artists like Nina Rose, Lydia Jazmine, etc.
Swangz Avenue management signed and unveiled her in November 2019 and released her first single under the label in January 2020.
