Nathan James is a well known and respected roots and blues guitarist from San Diego California. He immersed himself in the blues as a teenager and joined blues legend James Harman’s band by the age of 19. With Harman, he toured all over the USA learning and playing the blues right where it came from before starting his own solo career. Nathan quickly fell in love with all of the traditions of roots American music as he got to perform in places like Memphis Tennessee; New Orleans Louisiana; and Atlanta Georgia. He has done his homework in styles ranging from pre-war rural piedmont and delta blues, to big city Rhythm and Blues. Nathan’s original style is a mix of all of these styles and much more.
No stranger to backing up blues harmonica, in 2013 Nathan recorded on a Grammy nominated live recording ‘A Tribute to Little Walter’ playing behind Charlie Musselwhite, Billy Boy Arnold, James Harman, Sugar Ray Norcia and Mark Hummel. Most recently he has also recorded with the great Kim Wilson on his October 2017 release ‘Boogie and Blues Vol 1.’ which was mostly recorded and mixed by Nathan at his Sacred Cat Studios in Oceanside CA.
Nathan regularly tours the USA, Canada, Europe and now South America playing his original roots and blues music. His current album ‘What I Believe’, is his 9th under his own name and features all original songs....more
